Doctor Suren Basov obtained a diploma in theoretical physics from the Moscow Institute for Engineering and Physics in 1992, an MA in Economics from the New Economic School, Moscow in 1996, and a PhD in Economics from Boston University in 2001.

Doctor Basov was a visiting professor in the New Economic School in the summer term of 1999.
